About Regina

Someone in your corner

My name is Regina Devaney, and as a person-centred counsellor I believe you are capable of finding your own solutions and your own path forward.

I'm here to listen, and to help you discover your own way forward in what can often feel like a busy, overwhelming world. I have experience working with addiction, co-dependency, anxiety, depression, trauma and neurodiversity.

More recently I spent a year as a counsellor in residential rehab, supporting people rebuilding their lives after struggles with alcohol, drugs and other addictions. I've also volunteered with a charity supporting parents and guardians of neurodiverse young people.

Why Counselling Helps

A space that's yours, entirely

Speak in confidence

A safe space to be met with sensitivity and empathy, where thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely.

A problem shared

Together we can better understand what's causing the difficulties you face — and how to begin resolving them.

Healthier choices

Gain insight into why you act and react as you do, and start making better, healthier choices going forward.

The Approach

Person-centred, always

I won't tell you what to do — I believe you know yourself best. My role is to walk alongside you as you find your own answers.

01

We talk, freely

You set the pace and the direction. Everything said in the room stays in the room.

02

We understand together

We explore what's beneath the difficulty — gently, and without judgement.

03

You move forward

With clearer insight, you begin to make the changes that are right for you.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Counselling is usually a good way to help with a current problem — something that can be discussed and, hopefully, resolved within a limited number of sessions. Therapy often describes work that goes a bit deeper, towards more substantial life issues, and can be more open-ended. Which suits you best depends on you and what you're facing.

It varies from person to person and depends on the depth of the issues you're facing. Before we begin we'll agree a number of sessions, then review our progress together at the end.

My aim is to offer a first appointment — an initial assessment — within 1–2 weeks. We'd then arrange a set time each week that's convenient for you, subject to availability.

Everything said within the counselling room is private — this is one of the main ways counselling differs from talking to a friend or relative. The only exception is where there may be a risk to yourself or others, where the law may require me to notify an authority. This is very rare, and only ever happens after you've been informed.

This usually comes up when someone is nervous about starting, which is completely understandable. But a key part of therapy is feeling free to talk about anything important to you, and having someone connected to those issues present can make opening up harder. For that reason I see clients on their own.
